Contest Rules
Eligibility
The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers. Participants must be the original creator and copyright holder of all submitted photographs. By entering, participants confirm they have obtained all necessary permissions for any recognizable individuals or private property featured in their photographs.
How to Enter
To participate, all entries must be submitted through the official contest submission form during the designated submission period. Each participant is permitted to submit up to three unique photographs, ensuring that every entry complies with the specific technical requirements.
Contest Timeline
The contest follows a structured timeline from submission to winner announcement. The website will be open for submissions from March 9 through March 30, with the submission period closing on March 31.
The top 30 photographs will be selected to advance to the public voting phase. Public online voting will take place from April 6 through April 13, during which time viewers can vote for their favourite photographs.
Following the voting period, the top 12 photographs will be selected as finalists and have their photographs published in Sunrise Credit Union's corporate calendar. The 12 winning photos will be revealed on May 12, 2026, on Sunrise Credit Union's social media channels to celebrate Manitoba Day.
Rights and Usage
By submitting an entry, participants retain the copyright ownership of their original photographs, while granting OurManitoba.org and Sunrise Credit Union a royalty-free, perpetual license to use only the 12 winning photographs for marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes. This license permits usage across various channels—including online platforms, print materials, broadcasting, direct mail, and public displays—and grants the Credit Union the right to crop, edit, or modify images as needed. Beyond any prizes awarded, participants will not receive additional compensation for the use of their photographs under these outlined rights.
Content Guidelines

Photographs must be original work created by the entrant.

Images should be appropriate for all audiences and free from offensive, inappropriate, or controversial content.

Photographs should not contain third-party branding, logos, or copyrighted materials unless proper authorization has been obtained.

Submissions that violate these guidelines will be disqualified.
Technical Requirements
All submissions must adhere to the following technical specifications:

Photographs must be submitted in either PNG or JPG format only.

Images must be digital files. Physical prints, slides, and negatives are not accepted.

All photographs must be captured and submitted in landscape orientation (horizontal format). Portrait orientation will not be accepted.

Files must be submitted in their highest-resolution format, with a minimum file size of 1MB.

Submissions must not contain any visible watermarks, signatures, or personally identifiable information, including names or email addresses.

Photographs should reflect themes that are unique to Manitoba.

Participants may submit up to three photographs.
Judging Criteria
Our judging panel will evaluate all eligible entries based on the following criteria. The panel's decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Originality and Creativity: The photograph demonstrates unique vision, innovative perspective, or creative approach.

Cultural Characteristics Unique to Manitoba: The image captures elements that are distinctive to Manitoba's landscape, culture, or heritage.

Overall Composition: The photograph exhibits strong technical execution, including balanced framing, effective use of light, and visual appeal.
Photographs that do not meet the technical requirements or content criteria outlined above will be deemed ineligible and will be excluded from the competition.
